St. Aloysius Holds Annual Patriotic Rosary

Submitted by: Bobby SpeersColor Guard Patriotic RosarySt. Aloysius held their annual Patriotic Rosary on Tuesday, June 25th.  Joan Moran, a parishioner of St. Aloysius, has promoted this prayerful event for a number of years.

The opening and closing prayers were led by Deacon Bill Schreiber.

The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly 1713, who attend every year, were dressed in full regalia and processed into the Sanctuary with the American flag to post the colors.

Those in attendance prayed for the conversion of our country, for the leadership of our nation, for every state by name, and for every soul who resides in every state.

James Maxson (not pictured) led the choir and congregation in singing patriotic songs and hymns after each decade of the rosary.

This year the Knights of Columbus Patriotic Rosariesdonated Patriotic Rosaries for all those who attended. The rosaries were made by the Rosary Guild at St. Aloysius.

God Bless America!

Council #6451 to Celebrate Founders Day

fr-mcgivney-prayer-card

On March 29th Council #6451 will be celebrating Founders Day at the Friday Lenten Fish Fry by handing out prayer cards of Venerable Father Michael J. McGivney (the Founder of our Order). A banner of Father McGivney will also be displayed behind the serving line.

Both English and Spanish versions of the prayer card will be available.

Founder’s Day is celebrated annually on March 29, the day when the Connecticut legislature approved the charter of the Knights of Columbus in 1882.

Text of Prayer:

God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your venerable servant Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
